Monday 15 February, 2010

** For immediate release **

Business & Pleasure – An artistic perspective

Westsyde Connection is proud to present Business & Pleasure – A solo show featuring the work of Sydney artist Bennett. Business & Pleasure will open in the Westsyde Connection Gallery on Saturday 27 February at 4pm.

Michael Bennett is an artist and freelance graphic designer from Sydney who currently works out of the Worlds End studio in Surry Hills. Largely influenced by urban geography Bennett draws inspiration from such environments to create bold, conflicting and sometimes shocking imagery.

“I’m currently exploring the value of mass production of everyday objects and how they can be twisted and perverted to create completely different meanings and impressions to their original intention,” Bennett said.

John Saulo, Westsyde Connection co-owner said the monthly exhibitions aim to support and highlight emerging artists and to provide a free space to exhibit in, along with the infrastructure of a gallery and retail shop.

“Bennett’s exhibition is the second in our newly fitted gallery for 2010 following on from the successful Pigeonboy show. The abundance of talented artists in Sydney is amazing and we are stoked to be able to support them.

Westsyde Connection is a shop / compound / art house / music haven / graf zone / skate zone in Dulwich Hill Sydney. Created to focus on the sub-cultural art and lifestyle of Sydney, Westsyde Connection draws inspiration from across the globe to highlight the abundance of creativity in Australia.

Westsyde Connection is a voice for the sub-cultures. Artists, musicians, designers, graffiti artists, skateboarders, snowboarders and budding art lovers alike.
